As part of the Australian Catholic University’s commitment to reconciliation they commissioned Carbon Creative to create a series of Welcome to Country videos, one for each of their six campuses.
From Brisbane to Melbourne, Elders shared their story and welcomed ACU students, educators and the community onto country. Each Welcome to Country is unique in its celebration of culture, history and tradition, informing the visual style and sound of the film.
Each video encompasses three parts—the Campus World reflecting the present; the Original World using night footage to represent history; and the Synthesis – a fog screen overlayed with projected images, framing our Elders as they walk on to set transcending the past, present and future.
The Welcome to Country videos were officially launched at the ACU Sydney campus as part of 2019 National Reconciliation Week celebrations and now, ongoing form part of university welcome protocols.
