Brief: To design the exhibition identity, marketing, publication and exhibition experience for the annual Behind the Lines: The Year in Political Cartoons. 2020 A Dog’ Breakfast.
Idea: To embrace everything dog!
Execution: To boldly put forward a singular, iconic mascot for the year that was defined by the pandemic. To have the theme typography be inspired by the swipe and swish of a dog’s dirty tail. And to of of course include a grubby paw print. To represent the year as a complete randomised sequence of events through the front wall’s woosh machine. A suction-based series of messily intertwined pipes pull your coloured ball into the kennel, landing you in the dog’s bowl of one of three misfit puppies. To include the exploding dog’s dish with all the events of the manic year on the cover of the catalogue.
