THE RESURRECTION OF JOHNNY CASH’S VOICE TO RESCUE
A DISASTER-RAVAGED COUNTRY TOWN’S MUSIC FESTIVAL

Stanthorpe (Queensland – Australia) became Johnny Cash Country when Johnny
and June Carter-Cash visited regularly during the 80s and 90s.

August 2019, Stanthorpe, ravaged by drought, and hellish bushfires, still desperately needed fans to support the annual October Johnny Cash Country Festival.

We created: CA$H FOR STANTHORPE, a multi-pronged social media/web-app/and radio campaign to crank cash through local traders’ tills. We invoked the spirit of JC through his reincarnated voice (courtesy mimic Paul Davies). Fans were invited, using smart phones, to Ask Johnny about the festival.

The show sold-out, local trade boomed. The voice of Johnny Cash saved the weekend and contributed to the town’s survival.
