At the dawn of our civilisation, man created fire – and the way of life changed forever. That was the ethos behind this piece of sublime storytelling. We shot actors in motion capture, and then used that movement data to transfer to our cavemen CG models – which had been painstakingly crafted from mountains of available reference. For the facial close ups, we hand animated our CG cavemen to match the facial movements of the actors, even going so far as to recreate the eyeball reflections of flame – no detail is ever too small!
