Online Predators

We needed to educate teenagers on the dangers of online predators, and remind them that online, people aren’t always who they claim to be.

We wanted to visually portray the “traps” predators set for their victims by building a relationship with them until they are tricked into sharing a sexually explicit image, leaving them vulnerable to coercion and sexploitation.

We built our very own “traps” – a mouse trap and bear trap, with a phone at its centre as the “bait”. The phone screen shows a chat between predator and prey, a teenage girl who’s just been tricked into sending a topless picture – the trigger for this disturbing trap. The photography was complemented by the careful crafting and retouching of this image to give it an eeriness and impact to really capture and educate our audience.

These posters ran via QFCC’s owned channels and in schools, complementing the online campaign.
