Tales from the Track – End of the Line is an animation that talks to the dangers of train tracks due to complacency and rule breaking by teenagers. This confronting story is brought to life though striking black and white illustrations and an impactful sound bed.
In order to achive growing tension which aligns with the story, the audio bed sets the scene and grows to a destressing cresendo – ending in a haunting resolution. Techniques which were used include a custom shepards tone utalising the train horn as its base as well as rhymic aspects of trains and captured alerts and bells.
The sound design of this this project brings the reality and dangers around train tracks to the forefront.
