Shot over 7 days in Mexico in 2019 with no crew, 4 clients, an untrained camera assistant and minimalist lighting kit that could fit in my travel luggage.
This was by very definition a fly by the seat of my pants experience where I literally had to make things happen in every given moment to get what I wanted.
The fire scene for example, underpins the entire piece. It came together from my idea to reality in 2.5 hours, because we pushed to get it done in the moment. I had tried to plan this entire production with the client before we landed in MX, but was told, ”It doesn’t work like that there. We’ll just have to see what we get.” Not ideal for the nerves.
It was a case of working with the environment, seeking light, mood and frames wherever I could. With Mexican ’belly’. Ah the joys. 🙂
