Education Queensland International is responsible for developing and promoting international student programs in Queensland Government schools. Over 3,000 international students enroll in EQI programs annually.
Important pre-arrival orientation detail is provided before departure. Previously delivered via the department’s website, there was no way of knowing whether information had been received, read or understood.
Language is a major barrier for many. Not comprehending content can lead to real safety issues. Being able to track progress and completion rates was critical.
The solution was a dedicated app called Your Passport to Queensland. A gamified experience including educational videos, quizzes and mobile games all wrapped in message style interface.
The personalised experience progresses through a series of fun activities, unlocking rewards and ultimately achieving ready-to-depart passport status.
The app launched into multiple markets including China, a first for a Queensland Government department. This contributed to a whopping 33% reduction in student safety instances.
