Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) — a government development organisation — are tasked with delivering low-to-medium density housing. Selling that to regional Queenslanders who like big homes is tough. In a world-first sampling exercise for property, we devised a way for prospective buyers to test the lifestyle in a medium-density community in Townsville, The Village, through a unique partnership with AirBnB.

Booking their New Home Test Drive through the global homestay platform, prospects could enjoy the experience of staying in a display home and living in The Village before they decided to make the biggest purchase of their lives. Local member for Townsville, Scott Stewart, launched the campaign in Townsville on 24th April 2018. Then the Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, The Honourable Cameron Dick travelled to Townsville to meet the campaign’s first guest, attracting press and TV coverage. The New Home test drive is booked solid through AirBnB.
