Canadian health students aren’t dreaming of a life in Australia. They may not have even considered studying abroad. Yet, at home in Canada they face fierce competition for access to postgraduate health degrees. Even though many jobs in health sciences await in their home country, Canadian universities don’t offer enough positions to get their post grad qualifications. We introduced Queensland as the place to complete their studies and thaw their career prospects, while resonating with the place they come from – the land where ice hockey is a national obsession and the Indigenous people famously have dozens of words for snow and ice. Waiting for a postgraduate place in Canada means putting a freeze on your career, studying at The University of Queensland allows Canadian students to return home qualified to awaiting jobs.
