We are thrilled to announce that Justine Armour, one of Brisbane’s most successful creative exports, has chaired our judging panels for the 2024 BADC Awards. As we celebrate our golden jubilee, Justine’s involvement has set the stage for an extraordinary year of recognition and creative excellence.
Justine Armour: From Brisbane to Global Creative Leader
Justine’s remarkable 25-year journey from Brisbane to the pinnacle of the global advertising industry exemplifies the calibre of talent nurtured in our city:
- Recently joined FIG New York as Partner and Chief Creative Officer (2023)
- Led Grey New York to “Comeback Agency of the Year” in 2022 as Chief Creative Officer
- Won multiple creative and effectiveness awards, including a Gold Lion and Grand Effie
- Named on the AdAge Leading Women list (2021) and ADWEEK Creative 100 (2019)
- Recognised as a Campaign US Female Frontier honoree (2020)
- Held leadership roles at 72andSunny New York and Wieden + Kennedy Portland
- Created celebrated work for iconic brands at Publicis Mojo Sydney, Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, and Clemenger BBDO (Brisbane + Sydney)
- Started her career at McCann Erickson Brisbane
A QUT alumna, Justine was recently named Advertising Graduate of the Decade by her alma mater, further cementing her status as one of Brisbane’s most successful creative talents.
A Virtual Reunion of Creative Talents
In celebration of our 50th anniversary, we’ve assembled an extraordinary panel of judges that brings together the best of Brisbane’s past and present. Our online judging process has reunited some of Brisbane’s most successful alumni with the current crop of creative leaders.
We’re particularly excited to have invited back some of our favourite previous judges and former chairs of judges from across the years. These individuals, who have played crucial roles in shaping BADC’s legacy, have once again lent their expertise to recognise and celebrate excellence in our industry.
This unique combination of judges – from those who launched their careers in our vibrant city and have since made significant impacts across Australia and around the globe, to those who have consistently supported and elevated our awards – brings an unparalleled depth of experience to our judging process.
Their participation not only ensures world-class evaluation of entries but also showcases the far-reaching influence and enduring spirit of Brisbane’s creative community. Justine’s leadership, alongside this illustrious group, has set the tone for what has been an exceptional year of creativity and celebration, befitting our golden jubilee.
Our Judging Process: Recognising Excellence
This year, a panel of 48 highly experienced and awarded creatives dedicated their time to ensure a thorough and fair evaluation process. The judging has now been completed, following this process:
1. Round One: The Selection
- Entries received majority approval to advance to the next round.
2. Round Two: The Evaluation
- Judges scored each piece, with medals awarded based on averaged percentages:
– Finalist: 50-69% (Fresh thinking in their category)
– Bronze: 70-79% (Demonstrating creative merit)
– Silver: 80-89% (Showing superior thinking and originality)
– Gold: 90-100% (Competing with the best national work)
3. Round Three: The Discussion
- Judges engaged in robust online debates to finalise awards, ensuring each piece received the recognition it deserves.
4. Special Awards
- Best of Show: Selected from top entries across categories, representing the pinnacle of this year’s creative achievements.
- Client of the Year: Recognising clients who foster and champion outstanding creative work.
- Rising Star Award: Celebrating emerging talent with less than 3 years in the industry who have contributed to entered work. Open to all roles, with free entry.
